Haunt up your house!

Trick Out Your Home

It’s the one night of the year where skeletons, bats, ghosts and pumpkins are perfect for decorating the home – Halloween is here!

You don’t need witchcraft to dress up your home for the occasion, and we’ve come up with a list of ideas that you can use as inspiration and get the whole family involved in the fun.

Front of House

It’s all about a scary entry statement! Think Halloween outdoor themed decorations such as large pumpkins, a trail of spiders, a broom hanging from the front door or perhaps some fun lanterns or string lights. Grab your supplies from Target or Coles!

You can also make your own spooky characters to scare those passing by – create a ghost with a white sheet, coat hangers or wire to add shape and black material or paper for eyes. Black tape is also perfect for creating spider webs on an outdoor wall or path.

While trick or treating may look a little different this year, there’s no reason why you can’t bring the idea indoors with your own Halloween treat platter!

Set up a dark coloured plate or board, add popcorn, lolly teeth, marshmallows, fresh fruit with chocolate chips as eyes – possibilities are endless. Get the kids involved too and task them with creating their own Halloween trick or treat item for the platter. Coles has all you need for treats!

For the ultimate Halloween table setting, grab a large sized pumpkin and use it as centrepiece. You can try creating your own Jack-o-Lantern or carve out the middle and place other items inside like sweet treats or DIY Halloween creatures. Large candlesticks also work well for a spooky dining setting.

Bedroom or Bathroom

Create some scary bed or bathroom vibes by switching off the lights and using candles, swapping out family photos with cut out silhouettes of Halloween characters or change your bedding or towels to shades of orange and black. Chairs can be covered with white sheets and add black eyes to make them feel ghostly!

Mirrors can also be transformed with spooky messages – simply cut out newspaper letters in the message of your choice, stick onto the mirror and spray with a matte finish spray before removing the newspaper letters. The message will appear and can be removed later with glass cleaner. Add some plastic bugs and spiders to bars of soap in the bathroom for creepy crawly fun or hang some witch hats from the ceiling!

With a little imagination, you can turn your home into the ultimate Halloween fun house!
